Columbus Marsh, Nevada
This is one of the three great Borax and Salt marshes in Central Nevada: Columbus, Rhodes, and Teal. All three are just off of Highway 95 and an easy drive. The Columbus Marsh was the largest and was discovered in 1870. Borax Smith got his start here working for Mosheimer and Stevenot. Remains of Borax works can be found all along the marsh. By the way, don't ever try to drive on the marsh if the road even slightly hints at being wet. The ground below you can disappear in a New York Minute.
