Humboldt Dike, Nevada
This is a two mile walk from the pavement of the old Highway 40 (interstate 80 frontage road west of Toulon) on the railroad tracks. The Humboldt Dike was an important break in the hills that allowed the emigrants heading over the Donner Pass easy access. It also marks the separation of the Carson Sink and the Humboldt Sink. And once I even found a pile of old insulators that the railroad was abandoning for newer models!
