Ichthyosaur State Park, Nevada

What is the state dinosaur of Nevada. You know, Nevada the desert state. Why it is a fish! Yes Nevada was once part of a large ocean. When the Sierra Nevada Mountains rose up, Nevada was isolated from its water source and dried up. Ichthyoaur State Park is a trek (on a well maintained dirt road), but worth it. See the largest fish reptile to swim in the great oceans of the dinosaur age! Below you can see (clockwise): 1) an overview of the fossils, 2) flippers with phalanges, 3) part of the fifty foot long bones of a large Ichthyosaur, and 3) jaw bones.
