Ophir Mill

Easily seen from the freeway between Carson and Reno, this was at one time an important and very large mill for Comstock silver and gold. The rock wall and the concrete structures on Ophir Creek to control water flow are all that is left of this magnificent early 1860's mill. After the mill outlived its usefulness, ranchers moved into the area.
