Washoe City, Nevada
This is the story of Reno before Reno even existed. Washoe City was the county seat and largest city when Nevada became a state. Reno could only boast a toll bridge, mill, and lodging. Washoe City was a thriving, living exiting place to be. In 1868 that all changed. The transcontinental railroad went through the place called Lake's Crossing. The V&T Railroad soon connected here. Within ten years Washoe City was a fading memory and Reno was the most important city in Washoe County! Today only the old cemetery remains on old Highway 395 and under the bridge of Interstate 580.
